It's A Small World

99 Portobello High Street

telephone: 0131 669 2173

It's A Small World is unique to Edinburgh as the only shop specialising in dolls houses and miniatures. A box room at £6:50 is a good way to get started, but you will soon want to move on to a proper 1/12 scale MDF house, from around £50. Take your pick from a Georgian Town House to a Tudor Manor, a Victorian Shop or a basement flat.

Now you are ready to add perfectly replicated fixtures and fittings. Spiral staircases, stained glass windows, Turkish carpets, wallpaper, electrical lighting? We have it all, down to the finest detail.

Serious hobbyists will already be familiar with top brand names such as Maple Street, Dijon and Little Trimmings.

It's not just a girl thing either - lots of men enjoy the challenge of building a dolls house from scratch and we can supply kits and plans.

Open from Tuesday to Saturday, from 10am until 5:30pm.

The McCrea Gallery is an artist-owned gallery specialising in the paintings of Lindsay McCrea, one of the area's busiest painters, working both in watercolour and, more recently, oils.

The gallery also has in stock original paintings by Allan Pendreigh, Matt Curtis and many others. Choose from landscapes, seascapes, floral, botanical and pictures of Portobello, Musselburgh, Edinburgh and other areas of Scotland.

There is a big selection of prints to choose from, including limited editions by James Mackintosh Patrick, Alberto Morrocco and John Bathgate along with Lindsay's own work. Open editions are available in a variety of sizes to suit most locations and decor.

The gallery also offers an excellent and cost-effective framing service with help and advice thrown in, all part of the friendly service with customer satisfaction as the priority.

The newly fitted-out gallery space is bigger and better and will celebrate its official opening with a new exhibition during this year's Edinburgh Festival.
